A quick guide for Work at home moms

This article has been guest blogged by Tamal Anwar who is a networker and a motivator from, Tamal Anwar Dot Com

work at home mom, wahm,Work at home is a great example of a successful small business method and these days everyone seemed to work at home to support their family. I don’t think WAHM should be only for moms and I think everyone could invest some effort and time to build up a passive income just working from their home.

For many years, there are small businesses which are growing day by day. Some of them are off line and some of them are online. The small businesses are growing very much faster who are using both offline and online methods.

I’m a young networker and I’m doing MLM for few years. My business was going well but when I combined my online and offline effort together, it helped me to boost up my business. So here is a guide for you to start your own small business.

Set a goal
Goal is important for success. You first have to set a goal and then the working plan according to your goal. Set how much you will work each week and how much you want to earn. Make plans what business you want to do and how you will get the things done. Just simply ask these questions to yourself,

  • Why I need to work at home?
  • What are my dreams?
  • How much I want to earn?
  • How can I help people?
  • How much I can work?
  • What are my future plans about this business?

Start a small business
When you came up with the idea, its time to start a business. Write down the theme of your business on a notepad, what your business is about, what is your products/ services, how you will make profit, who are your customers and who are the suppliers, who are your rivals and how they are working?

Name your business and do the paperwork if needed. You have to setup your office, workshop, bank accounts for payment. Phone, email and website for contact and other things.

Make a team
Team work is better than working alone. In business, networking works. There may be more moms in the neighborhood who wants to start a small business too. So why become their rivals? Make a team of 2-5 people and start sharing your ideas.

There may be more people who can help you with your business like your kids, friends, family members or even more. Just go to people and ask for support, you will be amazed to see how much people are willing to help you.

Digitalize your small business
I said it before, if you combine the offline and online efforts together, you will get even more success. Start by buying a domain name. If your business’s name is available for the domain, its great. Make a website which will be the online office for your small business. You can optimize it even more if you build up a blog. Why blog?

  • Because blogs can be regularly updated with news and informations.
  • Blogs get fast ranking in the search engines and make fast traffic.
  • A visitor can be your regular reader and then he could be a customer.
  • You can also earn from your blog via referrals, private ads and paid reviews.

Question would come, what should I blog about? Blog about your business and the services.. Make the blog as a help guide of your products and as a news media of your business. If your business is about garden markers, blog about gardening tips. People will be interested to read the tips and will buy from you.

Work on it!
Now its up to you to put effort on it. Work hard and work with a plan. Set small goals and try to achieve. Don’t try to take a big leap and work steadily, success will come. Smart Budgeting for Business Advertising

When it comes to advertising your business, there are many paid advertising avenues that work well. However, if you over spend your advertising dollars, you will go broke quick and not see enough profits.

There’s nothing more we want than to be able to efficiently manage our money. After all, the money that we want to manage is money that is hard earned. This is where a budget comes in. A budget executed properly, should help you see where your money is going, get more utility out of every buck, and help you save some extra for future use.

The first smart secret to a budget is to set a goal. What do you want to achieve from your advertising? Do you want to be able to advertise in one place or more than one? Do you want to put an amount aside for future advertising? “By having a goal, you will be able to shape your budget to best serve the interests of your business”, says entrepreneur Simon Slade.

Secondly, you would want to take note of where your business money usually goes. This includes bills, major but regular purchases (like grocery costs, healthcare costs), and everyday miscellaneous purchases (stamps, internet). Only when you list down where you know your money usually goes will you be able to identify which expenses you can do without. Once you’ve identified these regular expenditures, take into consideration what you can cut back on.

How much do you spend on advertising that is not producing results? How much do you spend on test ad’s? The measly $2 or $5 of these small purchases cumulatively translates to more than $3600 a year! Instead of buying small test ad’s or small ad’s that do not produce results, put aside the amount you would usually pay for these purchases in a small container. You will be surprised at how much you’re saving out of your older budget.

advertising_wahm.jpgOnce you have saved enough money, start looking for better advertising. Smart advertising always comes back to your target audience. If you are wasting money on advertising to the group crowd, your money is getting no where and you are loosing every dime you spend.

Always pay cash for your advertising ventures. Being indebted is a vicious cycle on its own. You’re talking about continuous payments, not to mention huge interest rates. The best way to deal with this is to pay cash for your advertising or if you use a credit card for advertising, pay the balance ASAP to avoid paying extraneous late fees or interest.

The last and most important step is to write down the amount you earned the sum you spend. This will help you target effective advertising and quit any advertising that is not producing results for your business.

Create an advertising budget, and use that budget each month when placing paid advertisements. Never go over what you can afford, even if you can get a good deal.

Instead of using your advertising money to run an ad in a few places, try to find a more targeted advertising option even if it costs more, as you may be spending your money on better advertising.

Make sure you keep track of all ad’s in place, the amount and the results you are seeing. This way you can cut out anything that is not working well and save the money for better advertising.
