Ways a couple can work together at home
Do you work at home? Do you and you spouse wish you could work at home and be able to look after your children as you earn some good money working from home? You can. My husband and I have worked at home for several years together.
Now, when we 1st started our home based business, Mr V. (my hubby), also worked full time out of our home. As our business grew, he was finally able to leave his day job and work at home with me. It was not as easy as it may seem, becuase getting used to working from home full time is an adjustment, especially if you work in a job where you are around allot of people daily. However, it is by far one of the best decisions we have made for our family.
I have learned many things about working from home over the years and have some good times for anyone thinking about the transition from your day job to a work at home business for you and your spouse.
Plan Ahead
Both of you are working on a day job because you will need to support the requirements of the family. If one or both of you will leave your day job, you may have a hard time financially in the beginning, especially if your home business has not grown as of yet.
So, you will need to plan. If you plan to work at home, several months before you launch your work at home business, ensure that you have a plan on how to conduct the business.
Do you have materials you will need such as computers, internet, ect.? If you will need to buy your computer, consider buying it on staggered basis while both of you are still in your day job.
You also need to make sure that your family can survive on one “guaranteed” income, if needed. Many people join a home business and just quit their jobs before the business is even making any money. I do not suggest this at all!
If you have a job or your spouse has a job, before anyone leaves their job, make sure your home business is secure!
If you do not currently work, but your other half does, the same rules should apply. Make sure your business is growing and you can afford to live off that income only.
Set up your home office
Eventually, both of you will be working in your home office. Set it up enough for two people to work comfortably. Ask the children to respect and avoid playing in your work area.
Just like when you set up your home office, you will need to set up your website.
How to set up a simple website?
If you know how to design a website, ensure that you design it in a professional way. If you do not, you can take advantage of free website templates on the internet until you can hire a professional to design your website. If you can afford it, go ahead and do it right, and allow a professional to design the site. It will end up saving you the headache of having to re-design it later on. This is to ensure that your website will look professional and induces potential clients to look at what you have to offer.
Set up a simple website with few pages i.e., about you page, a landing page, product portfolio page and articles page.
Arrange your schedule and responsibilities
To avoid financial problems during the transition, the wife may opt to leave the day job first. The husband may ask for flexi time in his job, just to assist the wife during the first months of operation. When you feel comfortable with your work at home business, then the husband can leave his day job to help the wife run their business.
Prepare sales letter, articles and press releases. The husband can assist in the preparation of these documents. The wife will have to manage the mailing list and send out the mailers and press releases.
The husband may help finding as many contacts while he is still at work.
The husband and the wife should tale turns looking after the children (if there are any)
The husband may take care of documentation such as licenses and bank transactions.
This is a team effort; the husband should be willing and able to interchange chores with the wife.
My husband and I work well together. He is better at home somethings and I am better at other’s so we really compliment each other. If you find you a better at talking to people and he is better at the web side of the business, go ahead and do what you are best at and let him do what he is best at.
Working at home has its many challenges, it is necessary that both the husband and the wife understands that this is a difficult endeavor but if they are successful, vacations and family activities may not be far from being part of their regular routine.
Many successful home business are run by a team of husband and wife. It works well, simple becuase 2 heads are better than 1! Regardless of what business you may be involved in, running the business as a team can work out well as long as you go about it the right way.

I recently hired my daughter and am training her to be a VA. She is 15 but it is nice to be able to work with her and she is gaining great marketing skills she may not know it now but she is.
My husband works away from home but I would love to be able to work with him and incorporate him into the business also.
