Home Business Burn Out… WATCH OUT FOR IT
If you are like me in any way you can spot a good opportunity. Many times I find myself with 1 major project cooking, 3 in the oven and several on the backburner.
Before I know it I am BURNT out. It is easy for a home business professional or Entrepreneur to want success so bad, they will work and work, until they are just so tired the eyes can no longer stay open. I am guilty of it!
When I started my online business as a way to build residual income so I could one day sell my other business and work online at home full time, I worked like a dog. I had that Entrepreneur spirit and knew what I wanted, I just did not want to wait for it. I was ready to build a strong business right then. I found myself up half of the night working, most of the day and every free second I had was spent working.
I really believed I was doing the right thing, I was at home with my kids and I was making money. I was building my business so my husband could quit his job and we could be home as a family every day….But really, even thought I was at home I was not spending the family time my kids deserved. I could have worked a 9-5 job and spent more time with the family than I was.
Many Entrepreneurs find themselves in the same situation becuase it is easy to do. When you start your business and you are ready for it to boom, you just do not want to wait for it to happen. However, that leads to burnout! The long hours will eventually take their toll on your physical and emotional health, affecting relationships with family and your business bottom-line.
Here are a few tips I have learned that have helped me a great deal in avoiding home business burnout.
- Designated family nights or events are great ways to get your mind off business issues and reconnect with the people who matter most to you. I mean after all, most of started our home business to be home with the family right?
- Set a Business’s Schedule. I know that is a hard one to do, but if you can manage to set a work schedule and stick with it, you will feel much better!
- Keep Up With Your Health. When us Entrepreneurs are busy at work, we can often work right pass a meal. When this happens we eat more at our next meal or end up snacking all day. Both, which are not healthy. Make sure you do not schedule any calls or meetings during meal times. This will help avoid the skipped meal.
- When you feel tired…take a BREAK! It is ok to take a break! Your business will be there when you feel rested!
- Don’t take on more than you can handle. When you take on more projects that you can possibly handle you will end up working way to much. Over working is an easy way to burn yourself out fast. When you get burnt out, your business will suffer! You will end up losing interest and motivation.

I used to spend more time online to build up my blog and online business. Sometimes I get bored and leave everything and go out for a walk. When ever there is other things for me, I go to attend it. I know that my blog is there to attend my readers. Thanks for this wonderful article!

Great post, and could not agree more! When I knew I was purchasing Momscashblog, within the next few days I had a yearly physical scheduled and cancelled it because I knew I had a lot of things that needed my attention. A month and some weeks have gone by and I can’t find the time to make an appointment. Like Tamal stated now I close my laptop and just go outside to clear my head!! Although I still have to make that damn appt.
Thanks for making us all think….about ourselves sometimes. **JJ**

Hi Tamal,
I too, go out and walk when I am frustrated or just need a quick break! Since I have 4 children at home, I pack them up and we go together. I am then spending some time with the kids and clearing my head!
