Tips to succeed in direct sales
One of the best ways to earn a living today is through direct selling and a direct sales home business. I have worked with several direct sales businesses over the last 10 years and have had great success. This job offers you a flexible schedule with reduced start up costs where you can work at your current job if you have one and watch your direct sales home business grow.
Not everyone is successful at direct selling as some people make a quick profit with direct sales while some quit even before making the first sale. However it is actually only with hard work at the direct sales home business will you be able to succeed at it.
Belief in your product spells success in direct sales.
The most important factor that helps in direct selling is to have a belief in the product you are selling. The love and enthusiasm you have for the product will spread around you to your customers and potential recruits. This is why you have to be choosy when selecting the company you wish to represent.
There is no point in joining a direct sales business that has a product or products that you would never buy. You will not be able to convince anyone to buy these products if you don’t like it in the first place.
Just because a direct sales company has great commissions, if you can not market the products you will never make a dime.
When choosing a direct sales business, choose one that does not have a large representation in your area. This is because if neighbors and family members are already selling the product, the probability of you selling anything will not be as large as it would be if you join a company where you the only rep in your area.
I have learned after name years in the direct sales business that your team (mentor) decides the success of your direct sales business…
Another factor for successful direct selling is the team you work for, and have. This team includes the consultant who recruits you (your up-line) and the personal recruits (your down-line) that you have. The up-line, with corporate staff decide your success in direct sales. These are the people who guide you in building your direct sales business.
So choose a successful mentor, who is also involved with down-line consultants and can inspire you to do well in your business. Make sure he or she is someone you feel comfortable talking too and make sure he or she does not push you into things you are not comfortable with.
I have heard many times that the best time to start a direct sales business is during the fall. This is because this is the time of the year when people start thinking about holiday shopping. This is also the time when people who attend your home shows tend to buy gifts for friends and family.
If you want to succeed in a direct sales business, it is important that you choose your company and team wisely. With these steps, you are sure to succeed in your direct sales business.

Great article, here’s something to add - I have seen people request sponsors who are nearby to them but that won’t always be your best upline! Would it be better to choose someone who is successful and has longevity with the company but may be in another state, or someone more local who only does the business as a hobby? There are advantages to both but be aware when you sign up that if you go with the local hobbyist you may not get the kind of support you want/need if you are a go-getter. With the successful upline you will not get the local “in person” training but hopefully they have found successful ways to sponsor a team all over the USA, such as through teleclasses, chats, etc. Good luck in your business!

A huge factor in Direct Sales is your enthusiasm about the product. This goes along with your belief in what you are selling. Many times I have seen if you are enthusiastic, people buy you, not necessarily the product.
