3 Blog Mistakes & Advice For Better Blogging
A few weeks ago I gave some tips on getting more traffic to your blog. If you do not have a blog, check this out!
I have saw many people asking for help the last several weeks on ways to get more visitors and more participation… Now, since all of the tools I gave were ways to get more traffic this weeks I want to talk about ways you can increase your blog readership and comments.
I visit allot of blogs all the time and one HUGE thing I have noticed on many are they are nothing more than an ad dump. What I mean by that is, they have nothing of interest there only ad’s. Every post is an ad of some sort and there is no content to the blog.
That is mistake #1.
Successful bloggers will tell you that people want to see content of use. Not just ad’s. This does not mean you can not run ad’s on your blog, because we all want to make money with our blogs, but you have to go about it the right way.
Instead of every post being one ad or another of nothing but text affiliates provide, try to re-work it. Actually take some time to think about what you are marketing, and talk about the benefits of it, the pros and cons, and what you think about it. Ad’s can be worked into posts that work great, but posts with nothing but a banner and click here will do nothing but drive your visitors away.
When you blog about something you are passionate about selecting topics are pretty easy. If you are honest and original, you will find readers who care about what you write.
You want your blog readers to return, so you should really think about what your readers want to see or what they are interested in and work your writing around that. It is ok to run off topic sometimes, I think all bloggers do that, by sticking to your blogs topic is an important rule of blogging. So, remember to stay focused.
Non consistent Blogs are mistake #2
How often is your blog updated? Blogs that are updated several times a week do well, but blogs that are updated daily do even better! Frequent posts are a great way to attract new readers and keep your current readers coming back for more!
Try to schedule a blogging time each day and stick to it. If your readers know when you update your blog, they will be looking out for the next big topic of discussion.
And Blog Mistake #3…… Not being patient!
Yep, I said it. Many bloggers start a blog and give up on it way before it can even have a chance to get started. As with any other business or venture to be successful you must give it time. Blogging is the same way.
The more you post about interesting things, the more readers will return and the more you post good topics the more search engines will love your blog!
I have saw some big time bloggers say it took them 6 months or more to really get going good with blogging and making money from blogging.
So, if you started a blog and think you will make $500 this month, chances are you will not. That is not realistic. Can a blog make $500 a month? YES! Some successful bloggers earn 6 figures a MONTH!
If you have been thinking about closing your blog, don’t just yet. Try to give it some more time, get to networking with other bloggers, start commenting on other blogs, and be consistent with your blogging.

Hi I was reading your blog and noticed on your link page that at the top you have Cafemom. I agree that it’s a great resource, I network a lot on there. Send me an email and I’ll give you my user name, I’d rather not just stick it in the comments. I think 2008 is going to be stellar. Happy New Year.
