When it comes to running a successful home business, the internet must come into your marketing plan. With half of the world online nowadays, the best promotion your business can have is online.

Now, I know many home business owners are new in business and have no clue who to even get started marketing online and I realize many work at home moms do not have the funding to spend $100’s in online advertising. I was there myself at one point in my life.

Good advertising and marketing is crucial for a business online, but how do people do it without spending a fortune? Actually it is not that hard.

I want to share with you one technique I used and actually still use to promote my business. The only thing my technique will cost you, is some time.

Message boards and forums are an excellent way to get your website and business noticed as long as you market in a respectable way. What do I mean by that? I mean when you become a member of a message board, don’t only post your ad’s all over the place. Take some time and post an intro and look at what others have to say and reply. When you participate in message boards, people will begin to get to know who you are and you then have the opportunity to show off yourself and what you have to offer.

Using the message boards to only advertise yourself will not help. It becomes annoying to see the same ad’s posted every day by the same person who never does anything but post ad’s. I know many “teams” out there teach their downlines to post the living sin out of boards, but ask those people how much it has really helped. Those are the people who in the end, will fail because their marketing approach outright stinks!

I can name off 10 message boards I participate in and those same boards have not only made me several great online friends, they have also helped my businesses grow.

So how do I do it?

It’s simple! I set up a signature line that shows up in all of my posts, I greet all new members, and I post frequently on different topics. People then see that I am a real people with real things to say and they reply back to my posts and they check out the sites in my signature.

How do you find message boards?

Go to Google or Yahoo and do a search for a topic you are interested in. Such as women in business, at home moms, home based business, ect. There are 100’s of great forums out there and that gives you 1000’s of potential customers and connections!
